Columbines are the state flower of Colorado, and where I live, in the Fraser Valley, they grow wild. I've always loved them, and I always get excited when I see them growing on their own, usually in aspen groves. They appear to be so delicate yet they survive some of the harshest conditions on earth, coming back year after year.
I think they set a nice example of strength and beauty.
I paricularly like the compositional work in this piece. I'm always pleased when I can find an unusual balance-like the flowers will soon fill that void in the left corner, and take over. The background texture also creates a richness in the piece that stems from my printmaking days.
Variations in size, color, framing, etc... are of course available by commission, and feedback is always welcome! |
